Objectives and Beneficiaries of the Scholarship
OBJECTIVES
The Scholarship should be seen as a vehicle and platform of interchange and mutual learning between academics and practitioners, young people and experienced knowledge bearers.
Specific objectives are:
- Commemorate the personality of Dr. Jörg Meyer-Stamer as an influential thought leader and professional in his academic research and his practical support to developing countries.
- Support advanced students and young researchers in their thesis, either Master or PhD, or young practitioners in action research and support all of them through contacts and information.
- Continuity and extension of topics and methods related to Jörg Meyer-Stamer’s contributions (i.e. Systemic Competitiveness, Technology and Innovation Systems, Industrial Policy, Local and Regional Economic Development)
- Consolidation and nurturing of a network of researchers and practitioners in the spirit of JMS
BENEFICIARIES
Beneficiaries of the Dr. Jörg Meyer-Stamer Scholarship will be students and young researchers considered worthy of financial and advisory support especially for field and action research in developing countries. The candidates should not be older than 30 years.
Selection criteria include academic excellence as well as social criteria. Both aspects should be mentioned in the section “justification” of the application form. Candidates might want to enroll for an academic degree but this is not condition. Young development practitioners who want to do research (for example action research or an evaluation) are equally invited. Candidates from developing countries are especially encouraged to apply.
